City Attorney's Office

The City Attorney’s Office provides information and accurate legal advice to the City, its departments and its leadership. The City Attorney may represent the City in all civil matters, provide advice and recommendations to the City Council, City Manager and Department Heads, and perform such other duties as requested.  

Duties of the Attorney’s office may include:

  • Providing counsel to city departments regarding land use or code enforcement concerns
  • Creating and amending city ordinances
  • Providing legal opinions to city officials 
  • Overseeing lawsuits initiated or defended on behalf of the city
  • Participating in negotiations

Criminal Proceedings & Information

The Attorney also prosecutes the following types of offenses that occur within the City:

  • Domestic violence
  • Driving under the influence (DUI)
  • Misdemeanor and infraction-level offenses
  • Theft
  • Traffic
