DAVIS AND WEBER COUNTIES CANAL COMPANY -- The current water year is not looking that good, but Winter is not over yet. We hope that the snowpack builds, and we’ll have a good runoff in the Spring to fill reservoirs. The February forecast is 67% of normal runoff with warmer and drier conditions over the next couple of months. As always, we ask that you plan to continue to use the secondary water wisely so that we can meet demands, and we can have sufficient water left in storage in the river system for next year.
We continue to encourage efficient use of the water and conserve where possible. Please adjust your watering based on the weather, referencing the State website (http://www.conservewater.utah.gov/). We ask that you water no more than two times a week between April-June and September-October, and no more than 3 times a week in July and August (hotter months). We may have to go to more drought restrictions if conditions do not get better. The State requires meters on all new secondary water services, and we are retrofitting thousands of existing services with meters (for more information, go to https://utahwatermetering.com/ ). We are also in the process of replacing older meter radios with a new type for efficient data collection. We are sending water use reports to those with meters in an effort to better educate the end user and better manage our limited water resources. Please contact us (meters@davisweber.org) and provide an email address so the report can be sent to you monthly. We are in the final stages of getting a water user portal setup. Further information will be shared as it is set up, hopefully, before the water season.

We may delay filling the system depending on storms and water availability; often there is no need to water until May.
