Starting tomorrow, Kaysville City will be making temporary alterations to the intersection of 50 W and Burton Lane. The City commissioned a formal traffic study of this intersection by a traffic engineering consultant. The intersection has some unique characteristics and layout, so with the study results, the City has determined to install a temporary roundabout to monitor and study the effectiveness of such a measure at the location over the next 9-12 months. This temporary measure will further allow the City to evaluate the efficacy without first having to first spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on permanent alterations.

Crews had hoped to start this work earlier in the fall, but the shipment of the materials was delayed out of country until late last week. Crews will begin installation tomorrow, including rubber barriers on the pavement, signage and paint striping. The intersection will temporarily function as a four way stop to assist with crews with the installation, as well as flaggers being used. This work may take through the end of the week, so to avoid delays and traffic stops, it would be good to avoid the intersection until next week. The City will be adding temporary vertical delineators across the intersection to assist drivers with familiarizing themselves with the intersection and to assist plow drivers in inclement weather.
