We have received inquiries about a stronger chlorine smell in the water. Recent weather events in the Weber Basin Watershed have increased the presence of naturally occurring organics in the water entering the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District (WBWCD) treatment facilities, which supply all of Kaysville City’s drinking water.
In order to introduce additional precautionary safeguards for water quality, WBWCD is augmenting its water supply with groundwater wells. Due to the water treatment processes required for this, the public may notice a more pronounced chlorine smell in the water. However, WBWCD assures the public that despite the pronounced smell, water quality continues to meet all state and federal drinking water standards. Kaysville City crews have been closely monitoring water quality today throughout town to confirm this.
Additional questions can be directed to WBWCD at www.weberbasin.gov or at 801-771-1677.
