The presidential candidate nominations by political parties are set for March 5, 2024. Your participation is crucial in determining each party's nominees for the November General Election. Utah Election Law allows each political party to choose how they select their nominee for President of the United States and to determine who is eligible to participate, based upon political party affiliation. Only the Democratic and Republican parties have indicated their participation in this process in 2024.
REPUBLICAN PARTY
The Republican Party of Utah has chosen not to participate in the State's Presidential Primary Election, and instead will hold a Preference Poll in conjunction with statewide caucus meetings. Voters eligible to participate in the poll will be restricted to those who are registered to vote as affiliated members of the Republican Party.
Caucus meetings will be held on March 5, 2024 starting at 7:00 PM. Registration will begin at 6:00 PM. Participants are encouraged to preregister prior to the caucus meeting, and to arrive at the meeting early. Preregistering will significantly speed up the check-in process. When you preregister, an absentee presidential preference poll ballot and a ballot to vote for delegates and/or precinct leadership will be emailed to you. If you cannot attend a caucus in person, you still have an opportunity to participate absentee. Visit the Utah Republican Party's website for more details: utgop.gov.
