On Monday, May 31, 2021 at the west side of Kaysville Cemetery at 10:00. We have an honor guard by the American Legion, a pipe band the DHS Madrigals and a wonderful flag retirement ceremony.
We also have a wonderful speaker, Gordon Lyon. Gordon was a Navy Veteran who raised his family in Kaysville, all of his four sons served in the armed forces. In the spirit of the saying, "All gave some, some gave all", Gordon will tell you about his son, Marine Staff Sergeant David Lyon, who served five tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. David was a Explosive Ordinance Destruction Specialist to was hit by an improvised explosive device while trying to protect his fellow marines. He lost his legs and part of his and suffered severe internal injuries. Numerous surgeries spared his life for a short while where he put his knowledge and commitment to work helping other soldiers including from Russian and around the world. Sadly, he lost his life at a young age due to the effects of his injuries. David is buried in Kaysville Cemetery. He was a DHS grad and son of Kaysville.
Please spend one hour on Memorial Day to feel your patriotic hearts beat in sync with your neighbors as we spend time memorializing our Veterans. Bring your children. Remind them that we live in a great country and remember some of our greatest heroes on this day.
