[ARCHIVED] Sunset Dr will be closed from mid-day September 4, 2019 through 11:30 pm on September 7, 2019

Road Closed Sign Graphic

Due to impacts from high vehicle traffic volumes and speeds in the Sunset Drive project area, Sunset Dr will be closed from mid-day September 4, 2019 through 11:30 pm on September 7, 2019 so crews can finish grading and compacting of road base and pave on Saturday. Below are details on this closure:

  • No vehicle traffic (excluding emergency responders and project personnel) will be permitted on Sunset Dr (from Old Mill/Flint to the Centennial Jr High Seminary Building).
  • Vehicles needing to access Snowhorse or Centennial will need to take either Western to Angel to Smith OR take Webb to Angel to Tyler’s to Knight’s to Smith. Pedestrians will still be able to use the cross walk at the Rail Trail on Sunset, and the crossing guard will still be able to be stationed there. (see attached sketch for detour details)
  • Paving should conclude by late Saturday night, but if there are any issues, it may push into Sunday, and closures would remain in effect.
  • Once paved the road will be open for traffic Monday morning, but that is still a construction area, and traffic should be mindful of personnel and equipment.
  • Monday, September 9th, the contractor will begin removing the asphalt between the seminary building and Western Dr. This stretch will be closed to traffic to help keep vehicles and pedestrians away from the milling equipment and heavy trucks doing that work. This will likely conclude by late Tuesday. During this time, traffic to the south should continue to use Western to Angel to Smith to access either of the schools, but the northern portion of Sunset will be open for traffic.
