Increasing Incidents of Vandalism and Trespassing Along the Rail TrailThe Rail Trail, once a serene and scenic pathway for leisurely walks and bike rides, is now facing a troubling trend of vandalism, destruction of property, graffiti, littering, and individuals trespassing onto private properties. In recent months, there has been a noticeable uptick in reports of vandalism and trespassing along various sections of the Rail Trail, but most especially in the area south of 200 North. From defaced fences and litter-strewn pathways to unauthorized entry into private properties adjacent to the trail, these incidents not only mar the natural beauty of the area but also pose safety risks to both residents and visitors. In light of these concerning developments, Kaysville City is urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or instances of vandalism to the local authorities promptly. Prompt reporting of such incidents can aid law enforcement in their efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for these unlawful acts. Individuals found to be engaging in unlawful activities will be subject to penalties and fines under the law. Perpetrators will be held accountable for their actions, and strict enforcement measures will be pursued to maintain the safety and integrity of the Rail Trail and surrounding areas. The Rail Trail serves as a valuable recreational resource for residents of Kaysville. Let us work together to combat illegal activities along the Rail Trail, ensuring that it remains a safe and inviting space for all.

Lunch with the MayorThroughout the school year, Mayor Tran opens the doors of City Hall to welcome outstanding students from our local elementary schools. Selected by their principals, these students represent the best of Kaysville, embodying qualities of leadership, kindness, and resilience. This tradition serves as a platform to recognize students who go above and beyond, whether it's lending a helping hand to a classmate or showing exceptional academic achievement. It's also an opportunity to offer support and encouragement to those who may need it most, fostering a sense of inclusivity and unity within our schools. As we reflect on the 2023-2024 school year, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in making "Lunch with the Mayor" a success. From the dedicated educators who nominate these remarkable students to the city staff who organize the event, your efforts do not go unnoticed. Together, we create moments of joy and inspiration for our youth, leaving a lasting impact on their lives. As we look ahead to the next school year, we are excited to continue this meaningful tradition, celebrating the achievements of our students and strengthening the bonds that unite us as a community.

Responsible WateringIn Utah, we are either in drought or preparing for the next one, so we always need to use our water wisely. Water is the most limited natural resource. Conservation is key to ensuring we have water now and for future generations. Your use of water conservation practices will extend the availability of the water supply. We encourage you to be a steward of Utah’s water by using it wisely and sharing information with others. Kaysville City has three different secondary water agencies within the city: Benchland Water District, Davis and Weber Canal Company, and Haights Creek Irrigation. Each operates independently from the city and has their own rules, rates, and schedules. Each will have their own water restrictions and enforcement. Please visit their individual websites to find out what those restrictions are or for questions about outside watering. Interactive Irrigation Boundaries Map Water Conservation in Kaysville

Sewer Rate Increase - July 1stOn December 14, 2023, the Central Davis Sewer District held a Public Hearing and approved a $10.00 per month user fee increase, effective July 1, 2024, with an increase of up to $3 per month per year for the next four years. This increase is necessary due to increased chemical costs to meet State-mandated regulations, increased costs for biosolids disposal resulting from property loss caused by the West Davis Corridor, increased costs of renewal and replacement of aging infrastructure, ongoing operations and maintenance, financial stability and capital improvement, and minimizing future bonding needs and associated costs. For questions, contact the Central Davis Sewer District at (801) 451-2190.
