Help Us Meet Our Goal of Filling 1,800 Tags -- Donate Today!Kaysville GIVES was started as a way for our community to help make Christmastime just a bit easier for those that live and go to school here in Kaysville. It started by helping The Family Enrichment Center in Kaysville with 10 families, Mountain High School students, the Bountiful Food Pantry, and Safe Harbor. The residents were able to come to City Hall and select tags off the Christmas Tree there and return them in time to organize the gifts. We were hopeful to be able to fill Christmas requests from each location. In 2019, we moved all the physical Christmas Tree Tags to virtual tags on our website www.kaysvillegives.com. It made it so that we could reach more residents and allowed us to support more of the needs in our community. During COVID, we were able to utilize Amazon Gift Lists so the giver could shop online and have the gifts sent directly to the City Offices, making it safe for the giver and the volunteers. We found that the residents really liked being able to give that way. We also made it so that donations could be made online and that was another great way to make it simple to donate. Over the last 7 years, the vision and goal of Kaysville GIVES has always been to give back to those who are in need here in our own community. That is why so many love to be part of this. Kaysville Gives has been able to achieve that goal every year thanks to our AMAZING business and resident donations from families, church groups, youth groups, neighborhood groups, and service groups. In 2022, we joined a partnership with Young Truck and Trailer and the Young Caring for Young Foundation. Young Truck and Trailer receives all of our donations at their location in Kaysville, provides trucks and trailers for transportation of the donations, and receives all financial donations through their foundations so all donations can be tax-exempt. Their partnership has allowed us to help more families. Kaysville GIVES began November 20th and will be done collecting donations by December 8th. To donate, go to the website at www.kaysvillegives.com. For questions or to inquire about how to get involved, email medstrom@kaysville.gov. Financial Contributions- Click here to make an online donation. For donations over $250, you will receive a tax write-off receipt. - You can also call 801-546-1235 or go to Kaysville City Hall, 23 E. Center Street to make a donation. Select Tags from the Christmas Tree- You can go to our virtual "GIVING TREE" for items to donate. - All items are due back by December 8, 2023 to Kaysville City Hall or Young Truck and Trailer located at 220 N. 650 W. Select Gifts from Amazon Gift List- An Amazon Gift List has been created for suggested donations. All gifts will be delivered directly to our partner, Young Truck and Trailer's location in Kaysville. Fill The Fire TruckEvery year the Kaysville Fire Department, Youth City Council, City Council, and Mayor Tran come out in full support for the Fill the Fire Truck Event. They bring joy to the event with their love for Kaysville City and the residents. We are lucky to have their support. You have to come by Saturday, December 2nd from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM just to see what Christmas outfit Councilman John Adams will be wearing. You don’t want to miss it. We appreciate Kaysville resident, Jeff Bosen “The Grinch” for being part of this event every year. The kids love to come get their picture with him even if he is “grinchy”. This year Kaysville resident, Dallas Nessen, who is better known as Santa, will be joining us with Mrs. Claus for pictures and to help encourage families to come and donate new toys, clothes, books, blankets, gift cards, and make a donation.

Angel of Hope VigilKaysville City is pleased to announce the recent addition of a beautiful Angel of Hope statue in the Kaysville City Cemetery, made possible by the generosity of local residents and businesses. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to this meaningful endeavor. Communities worldwide acknowledge the necessity of a tranquil space for bereaved parents and loved ones to remember their children. The Angel of Hope statue was created to help fulfill this need, serving as a poignant symbol that offers solace and comfort to those seeking healing and remembrance. This statue stands as a beacon, reminding us that even in the darkest times, a glimmer of hope prevails. We invite the public to join us for a remembrance vigil on December 6th at 7:00 PM at the new Angel of Hope statue in the Kaysville City Cemetery. This ceremony will take place regardless of weather conditions. It is our hope that this gathering will provide solace during the challenging holiday season, offering support and understanding to those navigating grief.

Central Davis Communities that CareKaysville City, Farmington, and Fruit Heights are in the beginning stages of combining efforts to make “Central Davis Communities That Care.” When the process is complete, every city in Davis County will be incorporated into a “Communities that Care” group. Of course you may be wondering what “Communities that Care” is. While many would describe it as a program "Communities That Care" (CTC) encompasses more than just one program; it's a philosophy that recognizes the strength inherent in communities when they come together to address the challenges faced by their youth. The idea is fairly simple: communities, when mobilized and equipped with the right tools, can be powerful agents of positive change. The framework that is used was designed to prevent adolescent health and behavior problems through a community-based, data-driven approach. The general process is as follows: 1. Community Mobilization: At the heart of CTC is the mobilization of community members. This includes parents, educators, law enforcement, local businesses, and leaders who come together to form a diverse coalition. The idea is to harness the collective wisdom, resources, and energy of the community to address the unique challenges faced by its youth. 2. Assessment and Planning: Once mobilized, communities conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the specific risk and protective factors influencing youth behavior. This data-driven process enables communities to tailor their interventions to the unique needs of their population. It's about understanding the community's pulse and crafting solutions accordingly. 3. Implementation: Armed with a well-informed plan, communities then implement evidence-based programs and strategies. These interventions can span a spectrum of activities, from after-school programs and mentorship initiatives to substance abuse prevention efforts. The emphasis is on using proven approaches that align with the identified needs of the community. 4. Evaluation: Continuous evaluation is a cornerstone of CTC. Communities regularly assess the impact of their programs and interventions, utilizing data to make informed decisions. This iterative process ensures that strategies are effective and can be adjusted as needed to address evolving challenges. Kaysville City recently hosted the opening meeting to gather stakeholders and members of CTC will be reviewing data from the SHARP survey in December. Anyone interested in being a part of Central Davis CTC should contact Abbi Hunt on the Kaysville City Council. (ahunt@kaysville.gov) Anyone interested is welcome.

Snow RemovalKaysville City Ordinance 9-2-3 prohibits any obstruction of travel on public sidewalks. Property owners are required to remove snow on all public sidewalks abutting their property. Clearing snow and ice from your sidewalks is important for the safety of residents. It is illegal to shovel or blow snow onto the street. City ordinance 9-2-10 prohibits pushing, blowing or otherwise depositing snow, leaves or other debris onto the street. This is problematic, especially when a street has already been plowed, as this snow is easily frozen, reducing traction and becoming a striking hazard on the road. This can be a headache for City crews, but it also affects you and your neighbors as well. Residents often ask if plow drivers can keep snow out of their driveways, and while we aren’t actively trying to put snow on driveways or on sidewalks, it is difficult to keep snow from doing so as the plows move down the street. If there is a fire hydrant near your house, clear the snow around it. Make a wide enough perimeter around it (about 3 feet) for firefighters to work. Also, clear a path from the hydrant to the street.

Winter ParkingIt’s that time of year again, cold weather, smog, space heaters and winter parking restrictions. From November 1st – March 1st between 12 AM – 6 AM vehicles are not allowed to park on city streets (City Code 6-2b-4(8)). Please make sure your vehicles are off the roadways to allow plows to safely clear the roads. We are certain you don’t want to receive a Christmas card from the Kaysville Police Department this year. We will be issuing citations whether it snows or not. Thank you for helping us with this matter.

Stay Out of Work ZonesWe know it may be tempting, but please stay out of the West Davis Corridor work zone. Our police officers are continuing to issue many tickets for trespassing on the property. This also includes the walking path. Please stay out of this area as crews are working diligently to get the road up and running. UDOT team members and police officers are trying to keep you safe, as well as trying to keep themselves safe so that they can get back to their families at the end of the day. Please have a little patience and wait until the highway is completed and open to use it. Thank you!
